More Time to File, Not to Pay
A tax extension is a formal request to the IRS (and California FTB) for additional time to file your return. For most taxpayers in Fremont, that means up to 6 extra months — pushing the filing deadline from April to October.
The most important thing to understand: an extension to file is not an extension to pay. If you owe taxes, that payment is still due on the original April 15 deadline (March 15 for S-corps and partnerships). Filing an extension without paying what you owe will result in late payment penalties and interest.
B&H helps you estimate your tax liability before the original deadline so you can make the right payment — then takes the time the extension provides to prepare an accurate return.
Key rule: Pay an estimate of your tax liability by the original deadline. File the accurate return by the extended deadline. B&H handles both steps for you.
